Air conditioning system for four meeting rooms in a 19th century fort

To create a high-efficiency air conditioning system for heating and cooling 4 meeting rooms. The customer requested a system other than geothermal to avoid the complicated and time-consuming process of obtaining permits.

Storage description

Fort Rijnauwen is the largest of sixty fortifications built in the 19th century along the Waterlinie, the Dutch water defence line, used since the Middle Ages but already known to the Romans.
The fort was built to defend one of the most vulnerable points of the line, a vast portion of land that could not be flooded. Thanks to its distinctive architecture and historical integrity, the fort is a unique work of art. In addition, the site is also a nature reserve that is home to more than 200 species of plants and diverse fauna.
From April to October, it is possible to visit the fort accompanied by specialised guides. In addition, one of the artillery batteries has been completely renovated and four meeting rooms for company meetings have been created in the former ammunition stores.

Storage informations

The meeting rooms are air-conditioned with an air-to-air heat pump system. The heat pump develops a capacity of 16 kW and guarantees not only the air conditioning of the rooms, but also the domestic water supply, with two SCIROCCO dry coolers positioned outside.

Installed products

Two SCIROCCO Dry Coolers
Despite their small size, SCIROCCO Dry Coolers are extremely efficient machines.

Advantage obtained

This system has the same efficiency as a geothermal system but costs half as much and requires much less maintenance. Furthermore, with this system, the customer saved all the costs and authorisation time required for the installation of a geothermal system.

An innovative air-conditioning system that combines the ease of operation of traditional chillers and the efficiency of geothermal systems, avoiding the drawbacks of both solutions. Controlled by a smart PLC, the system provides an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution for space heating and cooling.
Another special feature of this system is its quiet operation, which allowed the plant to be positioned close to the meeting rooms, minimising heat loss from the pipes.

The word to the costumer

“The partnership with Stefani is excellent. We are two family-run companies and have a similar way of doing business. For us at Eplucon this is important, because the first value we both recognise is not business, but the opportunity of doing business together!”
